With continued commitment to Education, Lukulu Town Council has procured 3000 locally made school desks using CDF for the year 2024/2025 at a total cost of Kwacha Four Million Five Hundred Thousand – K4.500,000.
This finalises the total number of 5489 school desks deficit as submitted by Ministry of Education to the local authority.
This achievement indicates how much Lukulu Town Council has followed the presidential directive of “no Pupil should sit on the floor while learning.”
The desks offers pupils a comfortable and improved learning/studying environment.
The purchase of these desks have also brought empowerment to about 19 local businesses especially in Carpentry and joinery who were engaged for the supplies.
So far the local authority has delivered 2090 desks to 74 schools across all 17 wards in Lukulu District.
Beneficiaries include secondary, primary, basic and community schools.
The distribution is still ongoing and the council will soon come to a conclusion.
As a local authority we appeal to school management to see to it that the desks are well taken care of to avoid vandalism.
